It Always Ends

For me, it  happens before Labor Day: the end of summer. Because I start looking at the calendar. I start counting how many days are really left. When I start doing that, I am no longer really enjoying the summer. I’m trying to make it last longer, but instead it goes by even quicker.

Going away for a week with my friends was great. But school starts next week for me, work will always be there, and the grind begins anew. However, this time, I am very optimistic. Why is that? Because this is my first fall season since 2003 that I will not be going in as the member of a gaming clan. I won’t have that hanging over me. I won’t have to juggle school, work, friends, girlfriend, AND the next match. I just get to play games for me and smile all the way.

Hell, just last night I got to do that. Got in a random game of Left 4 Dead with Draco and some dude she knows. This guy was  a walking cliche in gaming. Talked like he had a mouth full of spit (you know that voice, you can’t not make fun of it). Then the fact that he really wasn’t all that good at the game. Yeah, he had a lot of kills, and even kept his health p, but he stayed in the back and fell behind a lot. Draco and I are just too used to speed running that game and we tend to take off regardless of who we are with. But we did make the effort to not ditch the guy and yet he fell behind anyway. What the fuck? So after the first two chapters, I made it a point to try and ditch the guy. Just for a laugh.

And if anyone out there thinks that makes me the “bad” gamer, I really don’t care, but go ahead and sound off anyway. It made me and my friend laugh. That’s all I’m looking for.

So go ahead and end summer. I think I’m going to have one of the best fall seasons of my life.

I’m a Copy Cat

I haven’t written a thing in a month. So this seemed like the perfect thing to copy. Thanks for being my muse, Denise. :)

Pick your five favorite TV shows (in no particular order) and answer the following questions. Don’t Cheat!

  1. Supernatural
  2. Quantum Leap
  3. Dexter
  4. The X Files
  5. Carnivale

1. Who’s your favorite character in 2?

Sam Beckett. No question. And it’s not that no brainer a question either. Al is half the show after all, but it’s Sam’s good will and constant self sacrificing ways and I really do find inspiring. He has a code of honor that he follows to the best of his abilities.

2. Who’s your least favorite character in 1?

When I think of other characters that people generally didn’t like, I realize that I enjoyed them being there. That sort of “loved to hate them” kind of deal. I didn’t like Bella, but I loved it when Dean would threaten her and thus freak her out. And I certainly didn’t like Ruby from the start, but knew she was vital to the plot and cheered when she has knifed. Then there were the likes of Gordon and Henricksen. While they made the guys’ lives hell, who didn’t cheer when they showed up for an episode? No, the character I just despised was Uriel. I didn’t love to hate him, I just hated him. He was a dick and made Castiel look bad. I did a happy dance when he got his.

3. What’s your favorite episode of 4?

That’s tough since there are so many good ones. I would have to say “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose” because it is that perfect combination of being serious and funny all the while it has a great story. Plus you really can’t say enough about the guest appearance from Peter Boyle. He slipped right into that role and worked perfectly with the other two. Good all around.

4. What’s your favorite season of 5?

Since there are only two seasons, I will have to say the second one. I’m sure most people would disagree with me on that, but I like how the character development was pretty much done with and the story was finally getting started. I wish this show continued. I’m sure I would have loved what would have come.

5. Who is your favorite ship in 3?

There are a lot, but I’m gonna have to say Debra and Anton because it makes me laugh. She is wound way too tight and he is as loose as can be. She works hard and he sleeps in past noon then smokes weed all night. Then he writes a song about how she is a skinny uptight bitch. Absolutely hilarious.

6. Who is your anti-ship in 2?

They don’t really stop for relationships. But the ones they do have, you just end up loving. Sam and his wife, Al and his ex-wife, hell even Al and his girlfriend Tina is such a great part to the show. Whenever Sam does get involved in a relationship it’s because he has truly fallen in love with the woman. So there isn’t a single bad one.

7. How long have you watched 1?

From the night it premiered back when it was still actually the WB. I take a little personal glee in the fact that Denise can’t say the same and got there on the repeat of the first episode. I’m such a jerk :P

8. How did you become interested in 3?

Denise bought the first season on DVD on a hunch. She enjoyed it, had me watch the first episode, and I fell in love. I mean c’mon! It’s about a serial killer. How would I not love it?!

9. Who’s your favorite actor/actress in 4?

David Duchovny. He played his character wonderfully and could be both serious and funny at any time. It’s a shame that his career can’t seem to get out of the shadow of this show.

10. Which do you prefer: show 1, 2, or 5?

Well Carnivale doesn’t stand a chance against the other two. But after that, it’s a tough pick. Both are so good with well written episodes and do really well with a cast of just two guys each. And what’s even better is Quantum Leap had only 5 seasons and Supernatural is rumored to be done after its fifth season. But as of right now I pick Quantum Leap. The reason for this is because of how the show ended. I loved it. It was perfect for the show. If Supernatural ends after this coming season and I love it just as much, I’m sure my answer will change.

11. Which show have you seen more episodes of: 1 or 3?

Supernatural only because it has more episodes, but I have seen every single one from each.

12. If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?

I’m sure most people would say Mulder, but I actually would never want to be him. Yeah, he’s cool and all that, but I don’t need all the psychological problems he’s had since his sister was abducted, or kidnapped, or whatever “really” happened. He has about 1,000 more questions than he does answers. That being said, I would much rather be the man nicknamed Deep Throat. He knew just as much as Smoking Man, but he died with a clear conscious. Plus he didn’t have to stick around for the crap that was Doggett and Reyes.

13. How would you kill off your favorite character in 1?

Dean is by far my favorite character, and he has been killed off and sent to hell. Then there are the two other incidents where he nearly died. So it’s not like it hasn’t been addressed already. But if he had to die again (and permanently this time) I would want it so that he directly saves Sam’s life. Not strikes a deal or changes places, but jumps in front of a bullet kind of thing. Or considering what is in store for this season, takes the wrath of God so that Sam may live. Something along those lines.

14. Give a random quote from 1.

“I hope your apple pie is freakin’s worth it!”

15. Would a 3/4 crossover work?

Definitely. In fact, Mulder would be the only person smart enough to figure out that Dexter is a serial killer. Then I think at the end we would see Mulder have a long talk with Dexter saying how he doesn’t have the evidence to prove anything (sound familiar?) and then telling to keep up the good work or whatever. Who knows. But it would be cool.

16. Pair 2 characters in 1 that would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple.

Bobby and Ellen. Enough said.

17. Has 5 inspired you in any way?

Yes. I now desire to have healing powers that also allow me to hurt or possibly kill others in one magic touch. Believe me, I wouldn’t wrestle with the moral issue that Ben wrestles with.

18. Overall, which show has a better cast: 2 or 4?

That’s tough considering both are primarily a cast of just two. But I would once again have to side with Quanum Leap on this. Even when I factor in the small supporting cast from each and the special guest stars, Quantum Leap is more impressive. I don’t feel like listing them all or even a little. But go look it up. It’s pretty damn cool.

19. Which has better theme music: 3 or 5?

AH FUCK! Don’t make me choose! They are both so fucking cool! I can’t do it! I CAN’T!!!

20. Which show do you wish more people you knew watched?

It’s a tie between Supernatural and Quantum Leap. Both are fantastic and I would like people I know to watch both.
